A lot of people may have been to war, but not in combat. Marines have always seen combat. Im one, amongst the brotherhood. Once a lost soul, found-created; sharing   experiences through art. Fighting words for hope into the hopeless.

Drew Lucas

Dear Heavenly father

Forgive me for I know not what I do

Everything I seen in War stopped me believing in you.

This is my letter, my letter to you

Well lord I don’t know where to start

So ill begin with the incident drove us so far apart

January 23 2010

Wasn’t the first time I’ve seen a mans life taken for him

Witnessed the ugliest in what your children can do

A man took his own life just to kill a few

I know you can’t be accountable for what your misguided children do. But.

Morning the man bared that vest on your chest

Squeezed the trigger

He looked to the sky and prayed

He prayed to you.

My brothers sent home in body bags

American flags to their mothers

Innocent children, a scene no man should know

Red and black head to toe, tears matched the blood flow

I now know this is what I blame

Our most needed time you never came

Brother Ajayi’s faith stayed the same

Dropped to his knees, look to the sky, prayed to you please

Moment my heart was torn, rage was born

Over the years, enraged and grew

Consumed me whole

Reminded a few weeks before, in fact, day after Jesus was born

You spared my life

Blast from an Improvised Explosive Device

Engineers said it was buried too deep

It was you, perhaps couldn’t bear to see my mother & sisters weep.

I now know

It is you, who has always been with me

No matter how dark my days have been

A flash at night The End

Let these words save the lives of man

I know I have so much further to go

I just wanted to let you know

I’m sorry & thank you
